(Note: The Microsoft Newsflash can be found here)So a couple of months ago, I my Xbox 360 that I had owned for about 3 months stopped working. It would often freeze up, but at this point it would not even turn on.. just 3 blinking red lights would come on. I searched around on the internet and it seemed to be a common problem. So, naturally, I called Microsoft and went through the standard troubleshooting. Nothing worked. So the rep said I should send it in to be repaired. Only one problem.. he looked up my system and said that it was out of warranty (warranty was 3 months). He said I could send it in, but it would cost about $180. I declined the offer, in part because I had gotten the Xbox 360 for free at xbox360s.freepay.com (don't try it.. the requirements are rediculous now). Anyway, I thought, instead of spending $180, I would fix the Xbox on my own.. I found some articles online on how to do it, but I never got around to it. Then tonight (about an hour ago), I got an email from Microsoft telling me that they have extended all warranties on Xbox 360's to 1 year. So I called them up and... No problem! They are shipping me a box to send my Xbox in. Now I know the 360 shouldn't have broken in the first place, but thanks, Microsoft, for extending the warranty.By the way, anyone who actually paid for the repairs because their warranty was expired will be refunded automatically. Nice.
